We put a flower on a smooth beach stone, roll out clay
like pie crust and slap it down over the stone and flower. the
rock gives the clay shape and texture; the flower leaves its perfect
impression. When the dish dries, we paint the impression, then
fire it for seven hours. When it cools we slosh it with background
color, glaze it, and fire it again.
